Specs Now Available For 2012 Shemitz Lighting Scholarship |
December 28, 2011 |
The Lighting Quotient and the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) have released the 2012 specifications for the student scholarship program that honors The Lighting Quotient’s founder, lighting innovator Sylvan R. Shemitz.
The Sylvan R. Shemitz Memorial Scholarship supports future generations of lighting designers, engineers, and architects; all second- through fifth-year undergraduate and graduate students in accredited design degree programs are eligible to apply. The $2500 scholarship is awarded annually to one student who demonstrates creativity, vision, and knowledge in the field of architectural lighting.
Entrants must complete the specific requirements of an assigned lighting project, which include preparing a lighting plan, fixture schedule with specifications, and a 250 word statement of the goals and objectives of the design concept.
This year’s project, West End Elementary, is not an actual project, but all designs should focus on lighting and be executed as if it was an actual facility. Students can download building specs and other details from www.TheLightingQuotient.com. Entries will be judged by a panel comprising three IES members and two applications engineers from The Lighting Quotient. |
