Nora Lighting Remembers 9/11 With Memorial Service And Donation
September 17, 2012

A memorial service at Nora Lighting on September 11 honored the 3,000 Americans killed on that day in 2001 in the terrorist attacks. During the company event, Nora staff also paid tribute to American servicemen and women on active duty in troubled areas around the world.

The service was convened by Fred Farzan, president of Nora Lighting, and Jilla Farzan, executive vice president, and was attended by more than 100 team members, one of whom lost a family member in the 2001 Twin Towers attack.

In recognition of the Day of Remembrance, the Nora Lighting staff donated $1,000.00 towards the construction of the public plaza and gardens at the National 9/11 Memorial, located at the site of the former World Trade Center in Manhattan. “We will never forget the enormity of the tragic events of 9/11 and how fortunate we are to be citizens in a free country,” said Fred Farzan.

“Many members of Nora’s staff came to the United States to pursue dreams of a better life for themselves and their children. On this Day of Remembrance it is fitting to reflect on those who lost their lives on 9/11 and on those who now serve our country in dangerous places,” he said. The service concluded with a prayer of hope and a moment of silence.

The National 9/11 Memorial  site in Manhattan is designed to honor to the nearly 3,000 people killed in the attacks of 2001. The twin reflecting pools at the Memorial Plaza are each nearly an acre in size and feature the largest manmade waterfalls in North America. The pools sit within the footprints where the Twin Towers once stood. The names of every person who died in the attacks are inscribed into bronze panels edging the Memorial pools.

A national Memorial Museum is also under construction at the site. It aspires to educate the millions of people expected to visit the new World Trade Center each year. For more information: www.911memorial.org.
