Nightingale™ (www.nightingalelighting.com), an innovative, patient-centric lighting manufacturer for healthcare applications, is pleased to announce its Observe™ cloud and Assure™ nightlight luminaires have each received a 2025 Nightingale Award. The awards are presented by the Healthcare Design Conference + Expo and Healthcare Design magazine.

The Nightingale Awards are the industry’s leading program to recognize contributions to the healthcare built environment through product design and innovation that promote healing and productivity. The judging criteria for the awards are: the product's contribution or solution to clinical or operational outcomes; aesthetics and innovation; built environment solutions; durability, functionality, and quality; industry certifications and standards; environmental sustainability; and list price. To evaluate the entries, an esteemed panel of 16 jurors visited exhibitors’ booths before the Healthcare Design Expo opened. The judges examined the products, heard the design and development stories, and asked questions.

Assure was recognized with an Innovation Award in the Lighting category. The nightlight is designed to work everywhere that additional wayfinding illumination is needed. Meeting RP-29 guidelines, its innovative optics cast light farther and more evenly across the floor. As a result, it creates low, soothing levels of light, with even distribution, no glare, no light above 90°, no visible light source, and an optional hidden photocell.

The Observe cloud received a Silver Award in the Lighting category. It uses an innovative optical treatment to create a realistic sky effect that does not interfere with the exam or ambient modes. The luminaire uses a unique combination of optics and color to create a fixture that is switchable between a biophilic sky mode, a soothing ambient mode, and an exam mode - all meeting the strict IES-recommended light-level requirements (RP-29). Patients control their own space via an intuitive wall switch or a pillow speaker control.

Winners were identified with booth signage at the HCD Expo Floor in Kansas City. They will also be featured in the January/February 2026 issue of Healthcare Design.
