LightShow West Announces Inaugural Control Systems Summit
August 31, 2017

LightShow West has announced a new education series, Control Systems Summit: A Lighting Revolution, will take place Oct. 12 as part of the two-day trade show and conference at Kentia Hall in the Los Angeles Convention Center Oct. 11-12. Available for $195, the summit will include four hours of education, which carry a number of continuing education credits, as well as a show floor tour.

In the age of smart buildings, intelligent systems and smart homes, the central element is a control system that performs one or more functions to increase the flexibility of systems used, including lighting. With such an emphasis placed on functionality that can ultimately reduce energy costs and improve sustainability, it's no wonder lighting controls are at the forefront of the minds of many in the California market. From wireless controls to occupant sensing, the Control Systems Summit at LightShow West provides an opportunity to stay up‑to‑date on this important part of the lighting industry.

Beginning at 9 a.m., the Summit's morning education sessions focus on Making Lighting Controls Occupant Friendly and the Impact of Energy Codes on Wireless Lighting Control, with seminars presented by Shannon Markey (Wattstopper/Legrand) and Michael Block (Crestron), respectively. Following a break for lunch on your own and the optional show floor tour, led by James Benya (Benya Burnett Consultancy), Mike Skurla (Acuity) will lead a seminar on Synergistic Buildings in the Era of IoT and Douglas Crumlich (Eaton Lighting Solutions) will close the day with the session Applying Wireless Technologies to Connected Lighting as a Catalyst for IoT.

LightShow West is a biennial event is geared toward architects, lighting designers, engineers, interior designers, lighting specifiers, facility managers, utility companies, IT managers and energy specialists who seek relevant education and the latest solutions from leading manufacturers of lighting, controls and related technologies. The caliber of the event was confirmed in 2015 with an “A” rating from the Edison Report.

In addition to the Control Systems Summit, attendees will be able to participate in a selection peer-reviewed educational sessions, including six free on-floor workshops, 27 free seminars and 16 fee-based roundtable sessions. Led by the industry's top speakers, the sessions will cover subjects pertinent to professionals in the fast-changing world of commercial lighting. Of special interest to the California market will be the numerous Title 24 seminars covering codes, controls, retrofit and new manufacturing testing requirements. LightShow West is a registered education provider will offer a variety of learning units, including AIA, IDCEC, ASLA, NCQLP and BOMI.
